How Does Brow Lift Surgery Work?
Brow lift surgery is performed with general anesthesia or IV sedation for your comfort and safety. The incision technique used during browplasty is selected based on the severity of skin laxity, the appearance of the forehead, and the patient's hairline. Dr. Ran specializes in a number of approaches, including:
- Traditional incision: Also known as the open brow lift incision, this puts the surgical incision at the top of the head behind the hairline. The open incision conceals scarring while providing a certain amount of lift control throughout the surgery. This type of incision works well for those with both a sagging brow and frown lines. This is the ideal technique if you are at risk of having a receding hairline.
- Trichophytic incision: The trichophytic incision is made right against the hairline. It allows a more dramatic lift in the brow for men and women who have a strong hairline with little risk of recession.
- Lateral brow lift: Also called a temporal browplasty, the lateral method places the incision inside the hairline just above the temples. A temporal incision permits the outer parts of the brow to be raised and helps sagging that is present in the outer brow. It also helps to treat Crow's feet.
- Endoscopic forehead lift: This is a more modern method employed in brow lift surgery. This method places multiple small incisions in the hairline and inserts an endoscope, which moves to the eyebrow to release its attachments. Through the camera of the endoscope, the brow tissue is suspended using stitches to place the brow in a better position.
